Day 25. Last day in Adelaide

We arranged to spend some of today with the owner of a Dennis fire engine similar to mine, manufactured in 1923. Ian Wilson is the current owner. This machine was one of three ordered by the Adelaide Fire Brigade. They are consecutively numbered and all three are still preserved.

After a look, and a start Ian offered me a drive around the block, which I gladly accepted. We then settled for a cup of coffee and a chat about this Dennis and some technical things.

Lunch time was soon upon us so we crossed town to a class hotel for a very nice meal. After lunch we agreed that Adrienne would spend an hour or so at Harbour Town shopping precinct and Ian and I would return to the city to speak to someone at the Metropolitan Fire Service. This proved unproductive, but Ian bought a new book on SAMFS, a subject about which he is very interested.

We returned to Harbour Town meeting up with Adrienne and then took Ian home, where we said our farewell.

Tomorrow we are off to Robe, on our way to Melbourne.
