An inauspicious start

“I can’t reserve our seats on the Cairns to Perth flight” Adrienne complained as we were putting the finishing touches to the holiday preparation. Seven weeks away on the opposite side of the country. Terrific.

Later that evening we were reviewing the travel plans when Adrienne came across an e-mail from JetStar to say there was a change of time for the Cairns to Perth flight. What the e-mail did not highlight was the date had also changed from Tuesday 12/04 to Wednesday 13/04. Expletives!

I contacted the JetStar call centre and spoke to a very helpful representative named Atlantis (male, no joke). He was only able to route us from Cairns, so our Townsville to Cairns flight remained good and he was able to route us from Cairns to Sydney and then Sydney to Perth; no additional charge.

So we get to see the eastern seaboard and an east-west crossing in the one day.

I’m sure the stress levels will fall when we are in control of our destiny
