Day 5. Perth is a beautiful place.

Today we spent the day in the city. What a spacious and clean city it is. Public transport consists of buses and trains. We saw an underground station in the CBD, which is not common downunder. There is a network of freeways radiating from the city. Generally the freeway shares the corridor with the rail. The city is well laid out and does contain some historic buildings like the photographs I have added. These are the original fire station, now a Fire and Rescue Museum which is only open Tuesday to Thursday. So we've missed out.

The Perth Mint, which remains operational for short run work. The new mint is located near Perth Airport. Now, a trivia question. If a tonne of gold is in the form of a cube, what would be the length of the cube? See the answer later.

We took the opportunity to visit the Perth Botanic Garden in Kings Park. What a beautiful and relaxing place. The state's flora is represented in area that can be walked through and admired. While there we were able to see the practice sessions for the Red Bull Air Race Championship which will be held over the Swan River tomorrow and Sunday. I have attached a couple of photos.

Another comment about Perth. Jenny Craig and her ilk would not do well over here.

Luckily I have the electronics for internet connection. There is no news about Rugby League in the West Australian, but, on the other hand the AFL Tipping in the paper has 31 tipsters. That's right, 31.

Tomorrow we are planning a trip to Freemantle.

The cube would be 37cm in length.
