Day 7. Today Bunbury

Today We commence our circumnavigation of the south west corner.

Bunbury is just short of 200km south of Perth. It is a coastal town, so we decided we would travel as close as we could to the water and not use the faster freeway. Our trip from Duncraig (Perth suburb where we stayed) to Fremantle was faster by the shortest route rather than by the quickest route as determined by TomTom. (GPS speak) Why? We don't know.

The day dawned beautiful and fine. We were treated to a cloudless sky and there was a bit of a bite in the sun.

Our first stop was at Rockingham Beach for morning tea. We had this al fresco overlooking the beach. The area was very popular with many people about enjoying the fine conditions.

Then it was off the Mandurah where we had lunch in the marina. There appear to be lots of people around with lots of money going by the number, quality and size of the boats about. Maybe there just isn't enough boat parking places closer to Perth.

The beaches at Mandurah are lovely with clean white sand.

In the afternoon we made the quick dash of the last 100km to Bunbury. Keeping close to the coast we shortest route option to control TomTom. This function is quite accurate, possibly to the metre! When we approached Bunbury we should have changed to quickest route, because TomTom pushed us in directions which required human intervention until we figured out what was happening.

Adrienne chose our accommodation on the beach and this afternoon the sunset into the ocean was quite spectacular as her photograph shows.
